One Upload, Every Icon Size a Modern Site Needs
A single favicon.ico isn't enough any more. Browsers want small PNGs for tabs, iPhones use a 180 px touch icon on the home screen, and Android uses 192 and 512 px icons from a web manifest. This generator makes the whole set from one image or a letter, and gives you the exact HTML to link them.
How to Create a Favicon
- Choose a source. Upload an image, or switch to text and type a letter or an emoji.
- Style it. Set the background colour, padding and corner rounding, and check the preview and browser-tab mock-up.
- Name your site. Enter your site name for the web manifest.
- Download and install. Download the ZIP, upload the files to your site's root folder, and paste the HTML snippet into your <head>.
Frequently Asked Questions
What files does the favicon package include?
favicon.ico (with 16, 32 and 48 px images inside), favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, apple-touch-icon.png (180 px), android-chrome-192x192.png, android-chrome-512x512.png, a site.webmanifest file, and the HTML tags to paste into your page's head.
Where do I put the files?
Upload them to the root of your website, so favicon.ico is reachable at yourdomain.com/favicon.ico, then paste the HTML snippet into the <head> of your pages. Browsers cache favicons heavily, so a hard refresh may be needed to see the new one.
What image should I start with?
A square PNG or SVG of at least 512 × 512 px with a simple shape works best. Fine detail disappears at 16 px, so a bold logo mark or a single letter usually reads better than a full logo with text.
Can I make a favicon from text or an emoji?
Yes. Switch to From text or emoji, type one or two characters or an emoji, and choose the text and background colours. Emoji appearance depends on the fonts of the device you generate it on.
Is my image uploaded?
No. All the icons are drawn and zipped in your browser.
