Verify Email Addresses Before They Cost You

Every dead address in your mailing list is a bounce, and every bounce chips away at your sender reputation. Once that reputation drops, mailbox providers start routing even your legitimate campaigns to the spam folder. Our free email verifier catches the bad addresses first — malformed syntax, domains with no mail server, throwaway inboxes, and simple typos — so the list you upload to your email platform is one you can actually trust.

The Five Checks We Run

  • Syntax validation. The address is parsed against the RFC 5322 rules for local parts and domain labels, catching missing @ signs, illegal characters, and doubled dots.
  • Live MX lookup. We query the domain's real DNS records to confirm a mail server exists. Domains that do not resolve at all, or that resolve but have no mail exchanger, cannot receive email and are marked invalid.
  • Null MX and reachability. A domain can publish a null MX record (RFC 7505) to state outright that it accepts no email — a strong invalid signal that tools relying on a simple "has an MX record" test read backwards, because the record is present. We detect it, and we also confirm that the listed mail servers resolve to a real address, since one that does not cannot accept delivery.
  • Disposable detection. The domain is checked against an open-source blocklist of more than 8,700 temporary-mail providers — the addresses people use to get past a signup form and then abandon.
  • Role and typo flags. Shared inboxes like info@, support@ and billing@ are flagged as role accounts, and near-miss domains such as gmial.com or hotnail.com trigger a one-click correction.

Honest About What Each Result Covers

Plenty of paid services claim to confirm that a specific mailbox exists. That requires opening an SMTP conversation with the receiving mail server, and the large providers now routinely accept every address during that handshake to defeat exactly this kind of probing. Rather than sell you a false positive, we report what can be established reliably: whether the address is well formed, whether its domain genuinely accepts mail, and whether anything about it looks disposable, shared, or misspelled.

How does this email verifier work?

It runs five checks. First it validates the address format against the RFC 5322 rules. Then it performs a live DNS lookup of the domain's MX records, which also detects a null MX record — the RFC 7505 way a domain declares that it accepts no mail at all — and confirms that the listed mail servers actually resolve, because a mail server that does not resolve cannot receive anything. It flags role accounts such as info@ or support@ that reach a shared inbox rather than a person. Finally it compares the domain to a list of popular providers to catch typos such as 'gmial.com' instead of 'gmail.com'.

Does a 'Valid' result mean the mailbox really exists?

Look at the 'Mailbox exists' row in the result — it tells you exactly which question was answered. When mailbox verification is available, we ask the receiving mail server whether that specific mailbox exists and report what it says, which is how an address on a perfectly healthy domain can still come back invalid. When that row says 'Not checked', every other check is domain-level: the address is correctly formed and the domain genuinely accepts mail, but a dead mailbox on a live domain would still pass. We show the distinction rather than hiding it behind a single green tick.

Why did another checker say invalid when this one said valid?

Almost always because the other tool performed a mailbox-level SMTP check and this one did not for that address. Domain-level checks confirm that, say, gmail.com accepts mail — they cannot tell whether one particular Gmail username is real. Confirming that needs an SMTP conversation on port 25, which serverless hosts block outbound, so it runs through a verification provider with its own mail-server reputation. If the 'Mailbox exists' row says 'Not checked' on a result you doubt, treat the verdict as being about the domain, not the person.

What does the 'Risky' verdict mean?

Risky means the address can probably receive mail, but something about it should give you pause before you add it to a mailing list. The usual reasons are a disposable/throwaway provider, a role account such as info@ or support@ that reaches a shared inbox rather than a person, or a domain that looks like a misspelling of a popular one.

Can I verify a whole list of emails at once?

Yes. Switch to the Bulk list tab and paste your addresses separated by new lines, commas, or semicolons, or import a .txt or .csv file. Results appear in a filterable table with a summary of valid, risky, and invalid counts, and you can export everything to CSV.

Is there a limit on how many emails I can check?

There is no daily cap and no signup. Large lists are processed in batches of 100 at a time so results stream in as they are ready.

Do you store the email addresses I check?

No. Addresses are used only to perform the DNS lookup for the current request and are never written to a database or log. Results are returned with a no-store cache header and disappear when you close the tab.

What is a disposable email address?

A disposable or temporary email address comes from a service that hands out short-lived inboxes, often to get past a signup wall without revealing a real address. They typically stop accepting mail within hours or days, so they inflate your list size while never converting. Our blocklist covers more than 8,700 of these providers.

Why should I remove invalid emails before sending a campaign?

Mailbox providers treat a high bounce rate as a spam signal. Sending to a list full of dead addresses damages your sender reputation, which pushes even your legitimate mail into spam folders. Most email service providers also bill by list size, so cleaning a list saves money as well as deliverability.
